Just listen to this…
Madlib spells out his verses and suggests that you ‘write it out’ if it’s too fast for you. So I did, and here’s what I got:
(what’s my name?)
madlib da bad kid on da g mic (get it?)
peace to wild child and dj roles on the mix (ok)
99 be dat year for lootpack
on a mission with the antidote soundpieces.
(we) droppin (in) high fashin mashin lyrics slashin
unmaskin fake cats in hats (so what you doin’ to them?)
smashin the fact
in one second flat
you could end your career
steppin here.
He’s a fucking clever man!

The MPC has always been the piece of gear for beatmaking, an absolutely essential and legendary piece of kit used by the likes of Dilla, Madlib, Moodymann - and practically everyone else. However, since digital audio and software based studios came along, despite the unique MPC sound - people have tended to move on and use other bits of kit which are more practical nowadays.
